Board of Supervisors Approves Pippin II Architecture Design
On Tuesday, December 7th, the Board of Supervisors considered the architectural and related design plans for the Pippin II housing project located in the unincorporated area of south county. The project includes 80 units of 100% affordable, multi-family rental housing, with 39 units set aside for farm workers and their families. The development consists of three separate three-story buildings containing a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom units. One of the buildings will include a multi-purpose room/learning center with a kitchen, computer workstations and offices.
The architectural design was developed to comply with site standards established in the Atkinson Lane Planned Unit Development (PUD) approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2014. The project meets vehicle parking standards with 137 spaces and includes a total of 96 bicycle parking spaces for residents and guests. With a unanimous vote, the proposed design and layout of the 80-unit development was approved by the Board. Approval of the 100% affordable multifamily housing project furthers the County's goals of adding more affordable rental units to the housing inventory, supporting development of farmworker housing, meeting a portion of its Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) for low and very-low income housing units for the 2015-2023 Housing Element cycle.
